Valuation History records dated assessments for a coin, allowing you to see how opinions and market context have changed without replacing earlier entries.
What to record
- The valuation amount and currency.
- The effective date.
- The source or valuer.
- The purpose, such as collection planning, insurance or a sale discussion.
- Notes about grade, assumptions and whether the coin was inspected in hand.
Reading the history
A change between entries may reflect the market, a revised attribution, a different grade or a different valuation purpose. It does not necessarily represent investment performance.
Keep each dated entry intact and add a new one when circumstances change. This preserves a useful audit trail and avoids presenting an old estimate as current.
