A little organisation makes a collection easier to assess and helps preserve important information. You do not need to identify or grade every coin before asking for help.
Make a simple inventory
Group coins by country, denomination, period or existing album. Record quantities and note pieces that appear unusual, certified or made from precious metal. Photograph trays or album pages before moving anything.
Keep the collection intact
- Do not clean, polish or remove natural toning.
- Keep old envelopes, tickets, receipts and certificates.
- Avoid mixing labels between coins.
- Store the collection somewhere dry and secure.
